Healthy gums and bone are the foundation for a healthy mouth. Our office places a strong emphasis on dental hygiene. At your initial visit, as well as during every regularly scheduled recall, we will evaluate your periodontal health and provide a thorough cleaning and polishing in order to prevent bone loss and help you to maintain your natural teeth.

Bruxism (Teeth Grinding)

Teeth grinding is one of the most common problems we see in the dental office. Many people grind their teeth while they sleep and do not even know it. Signs and symptoms of teeth grinding include worn, flat appearance of the chewing surface of teeth, headaches, and jaw pain. Left untreated, teeth grinding can lead to cracked and broken teeth requiring costly dental work to restore, or sometimes resulting in the loss of teeth. Teeth grinding can also cause persistent headaches or pain in the jaw, ear, and neck.

Alleviating the symptoms and damage caused by teeth grinding is often as simple as wearing a nightguard while sleeping. Fabricating a custom nightguard that fits precisely over your teeth to protect them while you sleep is a simple and painless procedure. We believe strongly in the importance of wearing a nightguard to protect your teeth and any existing dental work you may have, and believe that this easy preventive measure will go a long way in maintaining your dental health.
